A short story by Jono Shields.

It had stood in place like this for centuries. Kind of. Its descent was imperceptibly slow.

From a distance now it might appear to be a tower, nearly perfectly vertical, with only the fins peeking out above the dense foliage of the forest. It was only when you got up close you could tell that it wasn’t quite touching the ground yet.

The 200ft object hung in the air like a drop of water frozen in time. It was mottled in moss and the occasional vine, collections of epiphytes claimed their home not the crooks of branches but between metallic vents and larger seams in the metal.

A short story by Jono Shields.

Day 6 - Earth Envoy 00001

Up until now Clinkax had met many people of note, the farmer that hadn’t taken too kindly to them landing in the field and disrupting the cows. The man in the grey airforce fatigues that had been so wary to shake their pretarsus (insect claw). They had researched much on their 5 year journey here, but nothing compared to the real thing.

Kalou's Noodle Bar

A short story by Jono Shields.

As I entered, the warmth welcomed me. I sat down in a single booth up against the wall where I was closer to the fire that crackled and popped gently in the corner of the room. The noodle shop was small, 6 single booths lined up along the bar. Each had a little screen that would slide over so you could be served and a little flag that could be flicked out to show that you needed service. Between the bar and the entrance sat two larger tables that could each accommodate a group of eight if you were determined enough. These were currently empty, but the restaurant would be bustling later and there would be people vying for seats as soon as another patron left.

Maybe I can't do everything

After reading a few particularly good books I felt inspired to start writing a book of my own. I love to learn and of the firm belief that anyone can do anything if they truly put their mind to it. So I went down one heck of a rabbit-hole.

From reading every post on r/writing daily to buying distraction-free writing devices to doing daily exercises out of Ursula K. Le Guin’s “Steering The Craft” - I was in deep.
